Her Journey
A Space of Her Own
When Dina and her mother, Leatha, moved into their first home, it opened the door for Sheri — Dina’s sister — to finally have a space of her own. After years of renting and sharing living spaces, Sheri longed for independence and stability. The opportunity to move into the family’s former mobile home gave her that — a place where she could decorate, host, and build a home that reflects her spirit and determination.
With the support of Her First Home, Sheri is now transforming this space into something beautiful and lasting. The home has good bones and a welcoming feel, but the aging aluminum siding and lack of insulation make it cold in winter and hot in summer. Our next project is to replace the siding and add insulation so Sheri can be warm, dry, and comfortable year-round.

“It’s more than just a home — it’s my chance to create something that’s mine. Every improvement, every coat of paint, makes me feel more grounded and proud of what I’m building.”

Help Sheri Stay Warm and Dry
We’re seeking $10,000 in materials and funding to complete this renovation. Every dollar goes directly toward siding, trim, insulation, and fasteners — all labor is discounted, and some services are donated by volunteers.
You can make a difference by
Donating siding, insulation, or materials
Sponsoring a portion of Sheri’s remodel
Contributing directly to her Warm & Dry Fund
Every contribution helps keep Sheri’s home safe and strong — a place she can proudly call her own.
